Conversations to Cut the Conflict

Ep 38 - Emotions in Conflict- Debunking Myths and How to Work With It

Lisanne Iriks

Emotions are necessary and useful to have in our everyday life. We cannot survive without them. While emotions are so important, most people do not find it easy to talk about them, recognise them and work with (please note I said with, not against) them. A lot of people find this especially difficult when they find themselves in a conflict situation.

In this episode I am debunking myths that surround emotions with Dr Sam Hardy based on her research. This new research is available to us but as a society we are still working with old myths that are not useful!

I feel so lucky that Sam shared her wisdom and research with all you listeners in this episode. I feel everyone should listen to this episode! Sam's research will change what you think you know about emotions. I promise.

I got a lot out of this conversation and I am sure you will too. What we discuss will apply to you on a personal level but also if you are a professional working in the conflict resolution space.

Books Sam referred to during the  podcast:

1. Lisa Feldman Barrett “How Emotions are Made”
2. Susan David “Emotional Agility”
3. Batja Mesquita “Between Us: How cultures create emotions”
